The Lady Realwood was designed and built by an experienced draughtsman and shipbuilder, who has more than earned his spurs in shipbuilding since the early 1940s. Out of love for designing and building ships, the Lady Realwood took shape, using the designs of William Garden and Paul Gartside as a source of inspiration. The result: a smaller S-Bilged hull, with f accommodation for two people and a classic underwater hull, as befits a wooden yacht. Although the Lady Realwood is considered as an ideal yacht fby the builder himself, the greatest motivation has been the pleasure in designing and building the yacht.
After approximately 5 years of research, calculation, drawing and building, the Lady Realwood was completed at the end of 2013 after approximately 11,000 man hours. After being in the water for a shorter period in the 2014 season for various trial sails, the yacht was then stored indoors again. The yacht is therefore still in newly condition.
Headroom of 1.77 metres under sliding hatch, decreasing to 1.67 metres
Beautiful high-gloss mahogany paneling, combined with classic white parts.
gimballed gas stove
Very attractive, traditional and beautifully crafted interior. Equipped with all necessary comforts on board, but also practical for use under sail. As the builder is also an experienced world sailor, the interior has been carefully and cleverly designed with this experience in mind.
- Well isolated engine room.
- With the inboard Yanmar diesel the yacht can easily reach a hull speed of approximately 6 knots.
- Garmin marine electronics
Oregon Pine spars
Despite the experience, the hours invested in the design and construction of the Lady Realwood, the moment finally arrives of the first launch with sea trial. It turned out, that the yacht lies nicely on her waterline and sails above expectation, with the course stability of a real S-blige. For the type of yacht, Lady Realwood sails beautifully close to the wind. Under engine as well as under sail, she responds well to the helm.
The builder has used his practical experience to choose for a larger sail area, in order to be able to set more sail in lighter wind conditions. Reducing or reefing the sail area is always possible with the sail wardrobe.
Given the design and sailing characteristics of the Lady Realwood, the yacht -in combination with the interior- is according to the builder, a beautiful and well-built vessel for making stylish trips over wider waters. Moreover, also voyages to England, Scandinavia and/or the Baltic Sea.

Additional information
Passionately designed and built, beautiful classic, with clinker S-Bilge hull. Out of love for yacht building, the owner took 5 years to pre-design, design and built this unique sailing yacht. Despite her smaller size, the interior provides a galley, navigation table and toilet, with two (sea) berths of 2 meters in the bow. With a built-in Yanmar diesel engine, among other things, the yacht is technically equipped for making considerable journeys. After completion, the yacht was shortly launched in the water for technical trials, after which it was stored indoors since the end of the 2014 season. The yacht is therefore still in new condition!
